4 or 6 Metre Grass and Buffer Strip (Acre, Hectare or 20kg)
To be sown around the edges of cultivated fields, between the productive part of the field and an existing feature or habitat. It will provide protection for existing and creation of new habitats. It will also form habitat networks for small mammals, invertebrates and birds by creating links or corridors between sites. If next to a watercourse it will also prevent pollutants such as fertilisers from being transported in surface water runoff.
Variety:
- 20% Timothy- Provides good bulk, durability and early growth, helping establish a strong sward.
- 20% Meadow Fescue- Hardy and productive grass that contributes structure and resilience to the mix.
- 25% Red Fescue- Fine-leaved grass that improves ground cover and supports wildlife-friendly margins.
- 5% Common Bent- Helps create a dense, low-growing sward, ideal for stabilising soil.
- 10% Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass- Spreading grass that strengthens the sward and improves persistence.
- 10% Chewings Fescue- Fine grass that enhances coverage and tolerance to low-input management.
- 10% Cocksfoot- Deep-rooting grass that improves drought tolerance and provides habitat structure.
